Our Mission

Twenty percent of Oregon children live in low income families, and for many of them, athletics isn’t an option. Huddle Up was founded on the idea that youth athletics shouldn’t be about the haves and have nots. Our mission is to help make youth athletics accessible to every child.

We live by the motto, “take care of your own backyard before crossing the street,” thus we feel it our responsibility to partner with local school districts to help grant children access to the desperately needed extracurricular activities, athletics being just one of many. If we all took care of the schools in our “backyards”, we could make substantive change.

Our Promise

We partner with Title 1 Public Schools (large concentrations of low-income students), and their surrounding communities, to build new regulation-sized athletic facilities for student-use. These facilities provide direct access and athletic programming for students and give school districts an additional means to generate revenue. Our facilities are designed to be assets for the children and districts alike.

Appeal Video

“Donating a premier athletic facility to our district and granting our children a safe place to play and enjoy athletics is truly generous and amazing. Huddle Up has become a great partner, engaging our community and building pride in our schools and facilities among students, staff, and families. That hope, that pride, that dream, all brought about by Huddle Up, is reinvigorating and inspiring. As Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools, serving more than 10,000 students, supporting every student every day is a challenging task that requires great partnerships. Our partnership with Huddle Up is helping prepare our students for a bright and successful future.”

The Richard “Rich” Schwab Memorial Field at Maple Elementary is Huddle Up’s inaugural project. Donated to the Springfield Public Schools, the Rich Schwab Memorial Field is a true one-of-a-kind facility for the community. Huddle Up dedicated the facility to Rich in hopes of preserving his passion for youth athletics and his commitment to having a positive influence on the local community.
